Leatherwork School Book: Project Introduction
Is it possibly for someone (like me) to order the interfacings catalog?
I could listen to her saying browzer all day :)
Di you have a file for cutting a feather shape out of leather?
Thanks.
What is the biggest size we can cut with that machine or it is just for Small pieces
Maravilloso!!! No encontraba el modo de solucionarlo. Gracias
it's amazing explain u make me like to start learning how to start doing y bag thank u so much
Great info for someone new to leather working and getting ready to buy a machine 😊
😊 thanks! God bless you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks
Wow! Thank you! I was wasting so much leather trying to stitch around a gusset and this video completely solved my problem. I had even looked through your book, looking for an answer, not realizing it was there all the time in the Enchape Bag. I was able to adapt that piece for my tote and now I can sew around the gusset. Thank you, Ellen! I hope your healing and back soon!
Where can we find patterns for sewing machines?!
Hi Maria - you need to adapt the patterns yourself. The patterns I provide with the book are for hand sewing.
Great presentation, wonderful, Many Thanks and continue the good work Madam!!
i just found your channel. Awesome videos, I wish you were still posting them, I learned quite a bit the last couple hours
Trying to decide on purchasing this , how often does the blade need to be changed ? My exacto knife blade has to be changed out every 5 or 6th project
You should use transfer tape on the back of the leather and and then adhere it to the mat. This way you don't ruin your mat.
Thanks
Thank you! God bless you
You can also use the Deep cut blade. If you use Strong Grip transfer tape on the back of the leather (or clear packing tape) it won't leave the residue on your mats. Also a good idea to move the leather across and down the mat, easier to tape. Thanks for the video.
I am using a pattern that has many holes for having a visible string in a steam-punk style mask. Do you think the Cricut can handle the little holes in leather with the knife blade? Thanks for any thoughts on this.
What size are the large format sheets?
Great Job, Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I will be stitching a bellowed pocket onto 1mm goatskin or pigskin lining and want to provide pocket stitching support to the back of the lining. What are three recommended materials to use for reinforcement material? Here are the ideas I currently have. 1. 0.1mm non-woven adhesive-backed nylon/polypropylene. (I don't think this is a good choice. I think I should use a material that needs to be glued down.) 2. Tecno Gi Talyn (I have 0.35/0.4 mm on hand). 3. An additional layer of lining material in the stitch areas.
Thank you I found this useful. Awesome
How do I order for the book?
Did you put that flesh side down? If so, does this work grain side down? I suspect it would leave less residue on your mat if it works that way.
You should use transfer tape on the back of your leather piece. Then then adhere that to the mat. This way you don't ruin your mat.
I just purchased the 90 degree jig. Can't wait to get it in.
What is the paper underneath the leather (is it necessary?) and what tyoe of tape is that?
Hi - thank you for your question. The Cricut requires a cutting mat (the purple) underneath the leather. There is nothing else under the leather!
There are a host of laser cutting machines that are more than capable, between $2500 and $6500. Still a lot more than a cricut, but not 6 figures.
The problem with a laser cutter is that the laser burns the leather. You can’t get great finished edges with a burned edge!
@@LeatherworkSchool I feel like that's something some masking tape prior to cut and some light edge sanding, which we all(?) do now anyhow, would solve that. I've seen great results from some crafters out there. I think it helps if the leather is thinner as well.
Did you flip you’re leather face down?
Sometimes I do flip the leather upside down it it is quite ‘hairy’!
Where to buy this book please???
You can purchase the book on my website: LeatherworkSchool shop.com!
Hi. Very informative video thank you. Can this cut 3mm felt fabric? Thank you
I’ve not tried that. You’d have to test!
mmmmm.....a full complement of Knip Knives.
Yes!
Great video! Thank you.
Great video, Thank you.
Thank you
Still this available? If yes then price please
Great tutorial! Thank you!
It's a great explanation from you miss.thank you so so much ❤
I’m a brand new Cricut Maker owner and was really curious the types of projects and materials I could use. I have to admit I was apprehensive as the software Cricut presents seems rather restrictive for what I want to do (first impression only), but knowing now that I can design custom shapes in other apps has put my fears to rest. Great video, it helped me a lot.
Hi there! I need some advise from you. The footbed (corks) of my Birks are no longer sticking to the actual rubber and to the strap. I got some advise from some shoe repair shops to just sew it instead. Is it advisable? Do you have a better suggestions?
I don't know that I would sew. Go to a Tandy Leather and get some Barge. It will smell terrible (you need ventilation), but it is the strongest glue for shoes.
Fantatsic video, really helped me with my ordering of a fileteuse!
Great to hear!
Thank you Ellen for the information.
You are welcome. I"m glad you could get some helpful information!
Very helpful, thanks. Is there a way to get the zip placket svg? Looked at your website, didn’t see it.
What do you do if you want to cut multiples designs of the same thing? Does the Maker set it up to optimize use of the leather or do you set it up?
Hi Rebecca - You need to set everything up. If you want 5 of the same cuts, you need to set up a layout with the 5 cuts, placing them close together to optimize your leather. Or you need to feed 5 pieces of leather in to be cut separately.
girlllllllllll where have they been hiding you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm here!
This couldn't possibly be clearer. Thank you thank you Thank you
More videos like this please!
God threw you out of Heaven just for me lol THANK YOU !!!
Haha!
This is very helpful.I'm currently making a small bag and the gussets are driving me crazy.Wondering about linings and such, and also how to actually orient the gusset. The bag is a simple front piece, back piece with top flap and a gusset and I'm wondering if I should place the gusset arking outwards, inwards or in an S shape (one gusset edge goes in the bag and the other goes outside) . Any suggestions or tips would be very helpful !
Hi Ciel - I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I'll take a stab. Skive the edges of the gusset lining and outer. Apply glue to just the outer edges of the gusset. Attach the lining to the back of the outer and when you are doing this, curve your gusset so that the gusset is curved in and the seam allowance area is set out. I will try to take a pic on instagram to share.
